Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1996, she became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News two year later. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. In 1992, she was appointed chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell is a former panelist, as well as anchor of the TV program Meet the Press. She was part of the panel during the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. She covered a wide range of noteworthy stories including arm control, budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal and went on numerous trips together with President Reagan to meetings together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
